Liam enjoys playing the mandolin. And I have to say, he's pretty good at it.
I found him at the Temple City Farmer's Market last Sunday. The outdoor market meets every Sunday at Temple City City Hall at Las Tunas Drive and Kauffman. It's much more relaxed and less crowded than other local farmer's markets. Yet the produce -- and the entertainment -- are both fine.
Liam goes to Berklee College of Music in Boston and was trying to raise money for tuition and traveling expenses. He said he'd be back on the road shortly for the East Coast. He's majoring in film scoring. It's a pretty serious place to study music, judging from their web site.
He seemed serious about music and film scoring. I wished him well and asked if I could take his picture.
I like this image. He seems very American, with the blue jeans and plaid shirt and the mandolin sounded just a little bit country. Perfect with the old truck parked in the background.
I told Liam that my grandmother played the mandolin but I hardly remember her doing so.
As I was leaving, I saw him plucking away and snapped this candid image below:

Nice portrait and write-up.
