Happy New Year from Temple City Daily Photo (www.templecitydailyphoto.blogspot.com).
The theme is Photo of the Year. For our little town here in Southern California, there was no doubt. It had to be this photo of the windstorm of Dec. 1, 2011, which I posted on Dec. 2.
In the storm, Temple City lost 17 power lines (seen here) plus more than 300 trees. More than three-fourths of the city's residences were without power for nearly a week. At my house, we did not have power for 6 days and no water for a day and a half. The experience was strange. We felt out of sorts, disoriented, inconvenienced, of course, but also, fortunate that no one died (no one was seriously injured) in this disaster. Ultimate we were fine. Perhaps, stronger. Smarter, maybe.
The windstorm seems like a distant memory to me, now. But this photo brings it all back. I am grateful for so much. The storm brought us closer to friends and family, who helped us grab a shower, a dinner and even a warm room to sit in! Many thanks go out to you all.
To the CDPB folks, stay tuned for more Temple City and its environs photos for 2012. (If you haven't followed me, now may be a good time to do so. I know, that was a commercial. That will be the only one for 2012.)
Blessings.

Very impresive shot. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWow. That sums up the windstorm perfectly. Here's to a calm and happy new year!
ReplyDeleteThat's a "Nice" shot! Is that your street? Your foto recalls a couple I posted on Dec 1st.
ReplyDeletePS: Happy 2012 to you, Steve!
Yes, it just summed up the year. I haven't seen winds like that since, Laurie and let's hope never again. Cafe Pasadena, it is Live Oak Avenue, just about one-half mile from where I live in Temple City.
ReplyDeleteIt came thru here too a few days later (Richmond, Va.) I wrote about it. It was cold! without electricity.
ReplyDeleteDavid, just saw your comment. The winds made it all the way to Richmond, Va! I had no idea. I take it you survived and everyone was OK.
