Jeffersonian

This is the Mausoleum at The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, just two towns to the west of Temple City. Here is where Arabella and Henry Huntington are buried. The building was designed by John Russell Pope, the same architect who designed the Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C. Thanks for the info, Karin Bugge, who was our tour guide for the day. In fact, a little research shows Pope used it as the model for the Jefferson Memorial. Arabella died Sept. 16, 1924. Henry, her husband, the railroad tycoon, died three years later. She chose the grave site.
