Outside was THE wind storm of 2011. Fallen trees. Many, many people without electricity (I've heard the figure was up to 450,000 customers). No traffic signals working. Gridlock. Cold temperatures (for Temple City and here, Pasadena, at least). And yet, inside the Langham Hotel , Pasadena (most know it as the Huntington Hotel) it is serene. Safe. Comfortable. A lamp illuminates a quiet, out of the way bar. A soft pillow cradles a wooden bench, while the window lets you see out but protects you from the elements. (Shot from my Android phone, Dec. 5, 2011).
The place is total luxury. The world is shut out. A Valium in a building with valets.
It was nice to truly be sheltered from the storm for one night, at least.
Memories...
